The Palmer Drug Abuse Program is a privately-funded organization. We do not solicit or accept government funds. The reason is pretty simple....PDAP is successful because of our atmosphere of love and understanding. We see no reason to change our successful formula or mold our program to fit government policy.

Obviously it does take money to run our program. Our counselors are committed to the program, but they, too, have financial responsibilities and are therefore compensated for their time. The same philosophy applies with other bills such as utilities, repairs and supplies...we've got to find a way to pay them without asking Uncle Sam for a handout.

As a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 agency we rely on the benevolence of private donors to help sustain agency operations. Each year beginning in April we run an eight-week annual campaign to generate revenue. We also keep costs down due to our affiliation with the faith community who offer us free office and meeting space. We do accept donations at any time during the year....all of which are fully tax-deductible. Here are the ways to donate to PDAP:

Monthly Payments (aka: Friends of PDAP)
During our annual campaign, many of our strongest supporters join the Friends of PDAP program and receive a monthly invoice from our administrative staff. Invoices can be sent at a predetermined interval (monthly, semi-monthly, quarterly, etc.).

Support the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County
The largest single supporter of the Palmer Drug Abuse Program and eighty of our brother and sister agencies in Bexar County is the United Way. Without the support of our friends at United Way, PDAP would have to close our doors. By supporting the annual United Way campaign, either by a single donation or through payroll deduction, you are helping PDAP and the other agencies PDAP refers to on a daily basis to help the group members in our program. To learn more about the United Way, please visit their web site at www.unitedwaysatx.org or call their main number at (210) 352-7000. Also, if you know of anyone who may be in need of help the United Way Help Line provides 24-hour telephone counseling, crisis intervention and referral services by calling (210) 227-HELP (227-4357).
